New idevice referances in iPhone 3.0

As we all know assuming you read the gizmodo article on these findings here:
http://i.gizmodo.com/5175348/iphone-30-os-reveals-new-iphones-ipods-and-the-mysterious-iprod

It has been discovered that apple is working their magic on not one but 2 new iphone models.

Since apple only goes up a "model" number when they either add or take away something major from the design this has lead me to 1 of 2 conclusions.

The iphone model we know of now will get a front facing camera *hence why its iphone 2,1* and apple will unveile the rumored iphone mini which is the smaller more consumer frontted iphone.

OR

The iphone we know will get a front camera, and apple will unveiled the otherly rumored iPhone Pro. Which is the iphone we know, with a keyboard and conferancing tech "much like the touch pro 2" and more geared twords business users.

Either way along the way we know we will get 2 new iphone models and only time will tell. Heck mabey apple has a surprise and we will get both a iphone mini AND iphone pro. Which would make sense, a iphone for the average consumer and one for the business user.

This isnt all, in the findings there was also a referance to the ipod 3,1 and as stated above apple only goes up a model when something is added to the design. So does this mean the next ipod will have a intergrated mic, camera, gps, or gamepad "since apple is taking this gaming thing seriously"?

Personally I am hoping for a camera and mic since the ipod is geared twords media which does include audio and pictures.

______________

On a final note, what possibly could be the other two devices mentioned in the list. We know the iProd actually exists since it has been assigned a model number 0,1 "0 as in test device and not in the market and 1 for 1st version", Simularly the iphone test device that was recently sold on ebay was assigned a simular number "iphone 0,1". Gizmodo assumes that the iProd is the mythical apple tablet that has been rumored for a while now.

However I do not see the iphone OS working to well as a tablet operating system, as there is no way to imput written notes "in english", there is no way to edit documents on the iphone, and no native art programs.

However, if you remember apple did say they were working on a "giant ipod touch" a while back, which this fits perfectly. Larger screen for confortable movie viewing, web browsing, and ebook reading and this runs the same OS the ipod touch and iphone run.

Finally I would like to address the iFPGA device, it was mentioned in the device check list. However it did not have a model number which means that apple is playing with the idea of it but have NOT made a prototype.

Apon googling FPGA I got a interesting wikipedia article, here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-programmable_gate_array

Basically a FPGA or Feild Programable Gate Array is a programable logic chip that can do many complex things for example,

"FPGAs especially find applications in any area or algorithm that can make use of the massive parallelism offered by their architecture. One such area is code breaking, in particular brute-force attack, of cryptographic algorithms."

or,

"FPGAs are increasingly used in conventional high performance computing applications where computational kernels such as FFT or Convolution are performed on the FPGA instead of a microprocessor."

Interestinally after reading the article I have came to the assumption that iFPGA is not a actuall device, but a componet "why it didnt have a model number"! What interests me the most is how FPGA is used in advance computing, advance algorythms, and the speech recognition.

Basing my ideas on those area's I have came to the conclusion that this componet could be used for 3 things.

Since FPGA is also used with algorythms, this means that apple is looking for new methods of "protecting" the iphone OS. Meaning iFPGA could be used to make it much much much more difficult to jailbreak your device by using a advance algorythm system to make up the ipsw keys and authintication. My theory is that the iFPGA will be a chip very simular to the starlet chip on the wii that will actively decode incomming and outgoing information from the iphone and it will simply "lock out" any unapproved code. Its apparant apple is already playing with this as shown with the ipod touch gen 2.

Then there is the chance iFPGA could just be a performance booster for the iProd tablet "assuming it is a tablet", although thinking about the speech recognition again, I do see how it could be usefull to the tablet if it could actively translate speech into text on the go, This would be particulary usefull for subtitles on videos or note taking. Also I would like to note this would be great for visual voice mail.

Apple unveils new Macbook's

Today apple unveiled the new macbook and macbook pro. Both feature a aluminum body stylized like that of the powerbook and macbook air.

The pricing of the new macbooks have been increased ~300 from the previous generation most likely due to the aluminum body and glass trackpad. However currently apple still offers the classic plastic macbook for the old price.

iPhone DevTeam Update Pwnage to Support 2.1

Currently mac only, the devteam has released a update for both quickpwn and pwnage for macs that support 2.1 on the iphone 3g, iphone, and ipod touch gen 1.

The devteam has noted that pwnage currently does NOT work with the generation 2 ipod yet, but they plan on changing that once they get a device to test with.

Also the devteam has not forgot windows users, while not officially mentioned in the post a devteam member has said that they are polishing up the GUI for the windows version of quickpwn and plan to release soon.

More will be post as new news arrives
